Debbie started her underwriting career at Crown Life and later joined Sun Life Reinsurance, a global retrocessionaire. In 1992, Debbie moved to Sun Life Canada where she served as Chief Underwriter and subsequently handled Global Underwriting Projects in the corporate underwriting area at Sun Life Financial.

In 2009 Debbie became a self-employed consultant offering underwriting expertise in Individual Life, Disability, Critical Illness and Health insurance, Group Individual, LTD and Health insurance, Off-shore Foreign Markets, Training, Auditing and Expert Opinions.

During her career Debbie has served the industry in many volunteer positions:

• Canadian editor of On the Risk
• Secretary and Chair of the CIU
• Program Chair for HOLUA
• Executive Committee of the Western Home Office Underwriters Association
• Canadian Reinsurance Conference –Secretary for 2 three-year terms
• ALU Board member and Chair of the ALU Underwriting Forum Group
• A founder of Chief Underwriter Discussion Group of Toronto

Debbie is an avid golfer and dragon-boater and is a member of 2 pipe and drum bands.
