Brian spent the majority of his working career at Great West Life, culminating in the position of Vice President Individual Underwriting & Claims. After leaving Great-West, Brian spent 5 years as an independent consultant for Clinical Reference Laboratory. He returned to underwriting in the role of Chief Underwriter at Wawanesa Life Insurance Company from 2005-2011, and in 2011 moved to Gamma-Dynacare Laboratories as Associate Director - Insurance Marketing.

Brian has been active in underwriting associations in both Canada and the US and holds the distinction of being the only individual who has been President of the Institute of Home Office Underwriters, President of HOLUA and Chair of the CIU. He’s served on the Executive Council of the AHOU, as Chair of the ALU Board, and on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Living Benefits Seminar.

In addition to presenting at every major meeting in Canada and the USA and participating on many underwriting committees, Brian’s industry achievements include co-authoring the original North American Guiding Principles for the Underwriter and the Original Constitution for the CIU, and serving on the committee that executed the merger of the IHOU and HOLUA into the AHOU.
